Puerto Vallarta weather in July is part of the second month of the annual Pacific hurricane season. It’s quite a risky month for people to visit Puerto Vallarta because of historically heavy rains.

Puerto Vallarta is a popular port of call on the western coast of Mexico. But its popularity drops steeply during the intense rainy season.

If it has any appeal in July, it’s because of warm to hot temperatures.

July Temperatures

Puerto Vallarta temperatures in July have an average high of 92 degrees Fahrenheit or 33 Celsius, according to Mexico’s national meteorology service (Servicio Meteorológico Nacional). They have an average low of 73 degrees Fahrenheit or 23 Celsius.

By comparison, daytime temperatures in the winter hover in the low 80s Fahrenheit or mid 20s Celsius. Nighttime temperatures are cool and stay in the low 60s Fahrenheit or mid teens Celsius.

The seawater in July usually will feel warm to balmy for swimming during most of the day.

July Rainfall

July rainfall historically is quite heavy, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional. The average jumps from seven inches in June to 13 inches in July thanks to the annual Pacific hurricane season.

July is the second month of the rainy season that goes through October. Rainfall reaches a high point in September when it averages 15 inches.

By comparison, February through April historically have little to no rain at all.

Puerto Vallarta in July is one of the worst months for cruise and hotel travelers to visit the city because of a high risk of rain.
