Puerto Vallarta Weather in April: Rain, Temperatures

Puerto Vallarta weather in April almost never rains during the month. Temperatures are moderately warm. It’s an ideal time to visit for clear skies and good weather, especially for land activities.
This resort and cruise destination on the western coast of Mexico is popular in part during April because of the dry weather.
But temperatures in Puerto Vallarta aren’t quite ideal. They are comfortably warm during the day but often a bit cool at night.
April Temperatures
Puerto Vallarta temperatures in April have an average daytime high of 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius, according to Mexico’s national meteorology service (Servicio Meteorológico Nacional). They have an average nighttime low of 63 Fahrenheit or 17 Celsius.
The nighttime temperatures are cool enough to bring down the water temperatures quite a bit, especially in the mornings. Swimmers will find that the best time to head to the beaches is in the afternoons.
By comparison, daytime temperatures reach into the low 90s Fahrenheit and nighttime temperatures reach the low 70s Fahrenheit during the summer.
April Rainfall
The risk of rain is so low that it hardly rains at all during the month, according to 30 years of data from Mexico’s national meteorology service. If it does rain, it rains an average of only one day during the month—if at all.
April is the sixth month of the dry season that goes from November through May when it rains an average of one inch a month or less. February through April historically have virtually no rain at all.
By comparison, the Puerto Vallarta rainy season averages 12 to 15 inches per month from June through September. Rainfall is higher than normal because of the annual Pacific hurricane season.
Puerto Vallarta weather in April is a time for clear skies and warm daytime temperatures. April is one of the best months to visit this vacation mecca on the west coast of Mexico.
