Puerto Vallarta Weather in February: Rain, Temperatures

Puerto Vallarta weather in February historically has almost no rain during the month. It’s a great time to visit for clear and sunny skies.

This port of call for Mexican Riviera cruises on the western coast of Mexico is popular because of great beaches, attractions and a dry season that promises little to no rain.

But temperatures in Puerto Vallarta are a bit cool at night. That sometimes makes a difference during the day with swimming and other water activities, especially in the mornings.

February Temperatures

Puerto Vallarta temperatures in February have an average daytime high of 84 degrees Fahrenheit or 29 Celsius, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, Mexico’s national meteorology service. They have a nighttime low of 61 degrees Fahrenheit or 17 Celsius.

February temperatures are the lowest of the year and equal the same average in January. Cool nighttime temperatures bring down water temperatures and make them feel chilly at times.

By comparison, anyone who wants to frolic in the ocean waves will find that daytime temperatures average 90 degrees Fahrenheit or higher from June through November.

February Rainfall

Puerto Vallarta historically has a very low risk of rain during the month. Rainfall in Puerto Vallarta has averaged close to zero in February over the last 30 years, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional. It rains an average of only one day during the month.

February is the third month of the dry season that goes from November through May when it rains an average of one inch a month or less. February through April historically have nearly no rain at all.

In comparison, the Puerto Vallarta rainy season goes from June through September as a result of the annual Pacific hurricane season.

July through September average about 12 to 15 inches of rain per month. They are the riskiest months to visit Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta weather in February offers clear skies, warm daytime temperatures and cool nighttime temperatures. But March and April offer even warmer temperatures and the same low risk of rain. They are better months for travelers to visit, especially for anyone who wants to spend time in the water.
