Bermuda weather in February is the coolest of the year for this appealing island in the western Atlantic Ocean.
The British territorial island 450 miles east of North Carolina is a popular cruise and hotel vacation destination. Although it isn’t actually in the Caribbean Sea, it often is included in cruises to the Caribbean out of Boston, New York and other East Coast cities.
Bermuda is well-known for its British culture and history, high-quality golf courses and famous pink sand beaches. The pink sand beaches are popular in the summer when average high temperatures reach more than 80 degrees Fahrenheit or 27 Celsius. But February is a different story.
Bermuda Temperatures in February
The average high temperature in Bermuda in February is 68 degrees Fahrenheit or 20 Celsius, according to the Bermuda Weather Service.
The average low temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit or about 16 Celsius. Together, these temperatures make February slightly colder than January and the coldest month of the year.
Daytime highs and nighttime lows combine to make seawater temperatures average about 65 degrees Fahrenheit or about 18 Celsius. The seawater in February is too chilly for swimming for everyone except the most hardy of souls. Lounging on beaches requires more than just swimsuits.
So Bermuda in February is more likely to attract people for land activities such as golf rather than water activities such as swimming or snorkeling.
Rainfall in February
Bermuda is sometimes a stop for cruise ships embarking from the east coast on their way to the Caribbean. Unlike most Caribbean destinations, Bermuda does not have a distinct rainy season or dry season. The amount of rain is fairly consistent throughout the year.
Rainfall averages about four and a half inches a month and varies only an inch or so each month. The one exception is a spike in October during the annual Atlantic and Caribbean hurricane season when the average rainfall exceeds six inches.
February rainfall is right at the average. The number of days with rain during the month also is right at the average with about 15 total days.
Whether to Go in February
Bermuda’s seawater temperature does not climb into the 70s Fahrenheit until May. Beach goers will find that Bermuda weather in February is less than ideal.
Golfers and other people who prefer land activities will find that February is an average month for rain but warm enough for long pants and light jackets.
The fact that tourism reaches the second lowest point of the year suggests that February is not a popular month to visit for cruise and hotel tourists because of the weather.
