Bermuda weather in August has the second highest risk of rain for the year. But at least it’s warm.

The western Atlantic island of Bermuda, which is 450 miles east of North Carolina, is a popular cruise destination from ports along the United States coast. It also is a common stop for cruise ships that travel south to the Caribbean from east coast ports.

Because of its northern location, it has cooler weather than Caribbean islands to the south. But it has similar amounts of rain during the Caribbean hurricane season.

Bermuda Temperatures in August

Bermuda has average high temperatures in August of 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius, according to the Bermuda Weather Service. The average low temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit or 24 Celsius. High temperatures usually take place during the day and low temperatures at night.

By comparison, average high temperatures reach only 69 degrees Fahrenheit or 21 Celsius in January.

For these reasons, Bermuda is more popular with land activities such as golf during the winter and water activities such as swimming during the summer.

The average water temperature in August is 83 degrees Fahrenheit or 28 Celsius, which is easily warm enough for comfort.

Rainfall in August

The Caribbean hurricane season runs from June through November. Rainfall steadily increases in most destinations until reaching a high point in September and October. Bermuda has similar rainfalls patterns because Caribbean hurricanes and tropical storms often move north after passing through the Caribbean.

The average Bermuda rainfall in August is more than five inches. By comparison, rainfall historically is lowest at three inches in May and highest with more than six inches in September. The average for the entire year is about four and a half inches per month. So August is only moderately higher.

It rains on average 14 days in August, according to the Bermuda Weather Service. By comparison, May is the low point with 10 days and December and January have the highest at 17 days.

August is not the best month to visit Bermuda for good weather. Anyone who wants to take a vacation or visit Bermuda by cruise in the summer should consider July instead, which has a slightly lower risk of rain.
