Bermuda weather in April isn’t ideal for hotel and cruise visitors to this western Atlantic island.

Bermuda is a popular destination for ships going only to Bermuda and for some Caribbean cruises that embark from the eastern coast of the United States. Bermuda weather is cooler during most of the year than the Caribbean, which lies farther south. The island is east of South Carolina and has similar weather.

Bermuda is famous for golf and pink sand beaches. Bermuda beaches are far more popular during the summer than the rest of the year including April. It’s in the summer that daytime temperatures reach into the mid 80s Fahrenheit or about 30 Celsius.

Temperatures in April

The average high temperature in Bermuda in April is 71 degrees Fahrenheit or 22 Celsius, according to the Bermuda Weather Service. The average low is 63 degrees Fahrenheit or 17 Celsius.

The average seawater temperature is 68 degrees Fahrenheit or 20 Celsius. Trade winds make the water feel even cooler. The seawater in April is too cool for swimming for almost anyone except the most daring.

Daytime air temperatures are mild and comfortable for land activities. It’s why April is a good time for golfers but not for swimmers.

Rainfall in April

Even better for golfers and other land visitors is the risk of rain. April has the second lowest level of rain for any month of the year. Only May is better.

The average rainfall for Bermuda in April is 3.5 inches, according to the Bermuda Weather Service. It rains on average about 12 days during the month.

The island doesn’t start to get higher levels of rain until August when the historical average increases to five inches. The worst month of the year is October with an average of more than six inches of rainfall and 16 days with rain.

Cruise and other visitors will find that Bermuda weather in April is usually best for pants, long sleeve shirts and light jackets on most days. They will have to save the shorts and T-shirts until they go to the Caribbean—or wait to visit Bermuda in the summer.
