Bermuda Weather in October: Rain, Temperatures

Bermuda weather in October has the highest amount of rainfall of the year for this western Atlantic island.

Bermuda lies about 450 miles east of South Carolina in the Atlantic Ocean. That means it is far north of the Caribbean and somewhat cooler for large parts of the year.

The island’s October weather does have one thing in common with some of its cousins down south. It has more rain than usual thanks to the annual Atlantic and Caribbean hurricane season.

Average Rainfall

Over a 30-year history, Bermuda has averaged about 6.3 inches of rain during October, according to the Bermuda Weather Service. This level is similar to many other destinations in the Caribbean.

Rain picks up that month because it is one of the most active months of the Caribbean hurricane season. The Caribbean in October averages four tropical storms that often travel up the U.S. coast and western Atlantic. They impact Bermuda among other locations.

The island hits another high point for rain during the month—the average number of days that it rains is 16 or a little more than half the total days.

Again, that total is not unusual and somewhat below the average for other islands that are favorite destinations for cruises and longer-term visitors.

Bermuda Temperatures in October

October is not an ideal month for anyone who wants to spend time on Bermuda’s famous pink beaches.

The average high temperature for the month is 79 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 Celsius. The average low is 71 degrees Fahrenheit or nearly 22 Celsius, according to the Bermuda Weather Service.

Temperatures are about seven degrees lower than the high point in August.

Water temperatures usually hover between the average high and low air temperatures, which means they will feel somewhat cool for swimming.

In addition, expect warmer air temperatures in the early part of the month and cooler temperatures in the later part as the fall progresses toward winter.

Is October a Good Time to Go?

Bermuda is well known as a golf and beach destination, which means that October’s cooler temperatures favor golf more than beaches.

But the high chances of rain makes going to the island during the month a risky choice at best.

The safest way to visit Bermuda in October is by planning a vacation there at the last possible minute and checking the weather forecast for at least seven to 10 days in advance.
