Bermuda Weather in October

Bermuda weather is unique among many islands because it is often associated with the Caribbean, but it is not even close to the Caribbean Sea.

In fact, it lies about 450 miles east of North Carolina in the Atlantic Ocean. That means it is far north of the Caribbean and quite a bit cooler for large parts of the year.

The island's October weather does have one thing in common with its cousins down south -- it has the highest amount of rainfall during the entire year.

Rain Inches
Over a 30-year history, Bermuda has averaged about 6.3 inches of rain during October, which is quite similar to the rest of the Caribbean, according to statistics from the Bermuda Weather Service.

Rain picks up that month because it is one of the most active months of the Caribbean hurricane season. October usually experiences four tropical storms in the Caribbean that often travel up the U.S. coast and impact Bermuda among other locations.

The island hits another high point for rain during the month -- the average number of days that it rains is 16 or a little more than half the total days.

Again, that total is not unusual and somewhat below the average for other islands that are favorite destinations for cruises and longer-term visitors.

Average Temperatures

October is not an ideal month for anyone who wants to spend time on Bermuda's famous pink beaches.

The average high temperature for the month is 79 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is 71 degrees, according to the Bermuda Weather Service.

Temperatures are about seven degrees lower than the high point in August.

Water temperatures usually hover between the average high and low air temperatures, which means they will be somewhat cool for swimming.

In addition, expect the temperatures to be warmer in the early part of the month and cooler in the later part as the fall progresses toward winter.

Is October a Good Time to Go?

Bermuda is well known as a golf and beach destination, which means that October's cooler temperatures favor golf more than beaches.

But the high chances of rain makes going to the island during the month a risky choice at best.

The safest way to visit Bermuda in October is by planning a vacation there at the last possible minute and checking the weather forecast for at least seven to 10 days in advance.
