Bermuda weather in September is warm, but it also has one of the highest amounts of rain of the year.

Bermuda in the western Atlantic is a popular cruise destination from ports on the United States coast. It also is a frequent stop for cruise ships that travel south from northern ports to the Caribbean.

It has cooler weather than Caribbean islands because of its northern location. But hurricanes and tropical storms travel north from the Caribbean, so it has similar rain patterns during the annual Caribbean hurricane season.

Bermuda Temperatures in September

Bermuda has an average high temperature in September of 84 degrees Fahrenheit or 29 Celsius, according to the Bermuda Weather Service. The average nighttime temperature is 74 Fahrenheit or 23 Celsius.

By comparison, high temperatures on average reach only 69 degrees Fahrenheit or 21 Celsius in January.

Summer weather makes Bermuda popular with water activities when temperatures are warmer. It is more popular with land activities during the winter when temperatures are cooler.

The average water temperature in September is 81 degrees Fahrenheit or 27 Celsius, which is usually warm enough for swimming, especially in the afternoons.

Rainfall in September

Bermuda has weather patterns like the Caribbean, especially during the annual hurricane season from June through November. Rainfall increases to an average of five inches a month in June and stays there through September. It then jumps to the highest point of the year in October at more than six inches.

By comparison, rainfall historically is lowest at three inches in May. The average for the entire year is about four and a half inches per month.

It rains on average 15 days during September, according to the Bermuda Weather Service. By comparison, May is the lowest of the year with 10 days and December and January are the highest at 17 days.

September is not an ideal month to visit Bermuda. Warm weather lovers should try July instead, which has a slightly lower chance of rain and warmer temperatures. Another good option is May with the lowest risk of rain for the year.
