Grand Cayman weather in March has an nearly ideal combination of warm temperatures and low risk of rain.

It is ideal because average rainfall reaches the lowest amount of any time during the year, according to 30 years of data from the National Meteorological Service (NMS) of the Cayman Islands. Temperatures are among the warmest in the Caribbean during the month.

It also is the most popular month of the year to visit the Caymans, based on research from the Caribbean Travel Organization.

Grand Cayman is a hugely popular destination among western Caribbean cruises in part because of the island’s two most famous attractions—7 Mile Beach and Stingray City, where visitors hop out of boats and onto a sandbar to interact with friendly stingrays.

This time of year in general is popular for western cruises because other locations in the region—including Cozumel, Jamaica and Roatan—also have lower than average rainfall.

Grand Cayman Temperatures in March

The high temperatures are another reason why the island is popular in March. Grand Cayman temperatures in March have an average high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit or nearly 31 Celsius, according to the NMS. The average low is 66 degrees Fahrenheit or 19 Celsius.

Grand Cayman is one of the hottest destinations in the Caribbean with average highs of more than 90 degrees Fahrenheit from May through November. The heat will be intense enough to keep some people away.

The low nighttime temperatures will make morning swims a bit cool, while afternoons will be the best time for laying on the beach and frollicking in the water.

March is the best time to go to the Cayman Islands for great weather, and it’s also the most popular time to go. Anyone with an aversion to crowds might consider going in April instead.

Average Rainfall

March weather in the Cayman Islands is right in the middle of a dry season that runs from January through April.

The average rainfall during that time is between one and two inches a month with March having the lowest level at about 1.5 inches.

Another way to judge the weather is by looking at the average number of days that it rains each month.

April is the actual winner for this measure with only seven days and 1.7 inches of rain, while March experiences about 10 days. But the rains should be brief and light.
