Hot and wet is the quickest way to describe Grand Cayman weather in July.

Grand Cayman is one of the most popular cruise ports in the western Caribbean. It is famous for the Stingray City attraction and Seven Mile Beach.

The port is popular with western Caribbean cruises from December through April because that’s when the dry season arrives. It’s not as popular in July or any month from May through November because of heat and especially rain.

The average high temperature in Grand Cayman in July is 92 degrees Fahrenheit or 33 Celsius, according to the National Meteorological Services of the Cayman Islands. The average low temperature is 72 degrees Fahrenheit or 22 Celsius.

Water temperatures stay about midway between these daily highs and nightly lows. So they will feel comfortable swimming throughout the day.

Visitors who don’t like their beaches that hot will find the dry season a better time to visit than July when the average high temperature is about 87 degrees Fahrenheit or 31 Celsius.

By comparison, daytime temperatures hover in the low to mid 80s Fahrenheit during the winter months of December through February.

July Rainfall

The annual Caribbean hurricane season goes from June through November. Average rainfall for most Caribbean islands is usually light in June and increases each month until hitting a high point in September and October.

The Cayman Islands are an exception because rainfall jumps in June to more than five inches a month. It stays at that level in July, according to the National Meteorological Services of the Cayman Islands.

By comparison, it rains about two inches a month during the dry season from December through April.

Five inches is well above the norm for the Caribbean. Still, five inches isn’t as bad as September and October when the average for Grand Cayman jumps up to eight inches a month.

Rainfall is worse than normal in July for another reason. It rains on average 15 days during the month or about once every other day. During the dry season, the low point is seven days.
