Belize weather in February historically has some of the lowest rainfall of the year for this rainy Central American country.

Belize City is a common port of call for “exotic” western Caribbean cruises. The city itself is not the main attraction. Instead, shore excursions to the countryside are popular.

Heavy rains during most of the year create ecotourism attractions such as rainforest hikes. Mayan ruins also are popular.

Rainfall hits a high point from June through December during the Caribbean hurricane season, but February usually gets a break.

Belize Temperatures in February

Belize temperatures in February have an average daytime high of 83 degrees Fahrenheit or 28 Celsius, according to the National Meteorological Service of Belize.

The average low is 68 degrees Fahrenheit or 20 Celsius. Average lows usually occur at night.

February temperatures are the second lowest of the year after January. Because of low nighttime air temperatures, water temperatures often feel chilly for anyone who goes to the rare Belizean beach.

By comparison, temperatures from June through September usually reach the upper 80s Fahrenheit or about 30 Celsius. They are the warmest months of the year, but they also are some of the rainiest months.

Average Rainfall

The Belize rainy season is longer than most because it goes from June through December. Most Caribbean destinations have a rainy season from June to November; the peak months are September and October.

February is the first month of a short dry season for Belize.

Belize City averages less than three inches of rain in February, according to the National Meteorological Service of Belize. Although a low level for Belize, it is a bit higher than other Caribbean destinations during the month, many of which average two inches or less.

By comparison, September and October average more than 10 inches a month for Belize City during the peak times of the rainy season.

February is not the worst month of the year to visit Belize, but it’s not the best month, either. Travelers will find that the best times to visit Belize are March and especially April when the risk of rain is lowest and temperatures are higher.
