St. Lucia Weather in November

“Slightly better” might be the best words to describe St. Lucia weather in November. But slightly better is not always good enough.

St. Lucia is one of the most popular islands in the Caribbean thanks to its pretty harbor, interesting landscape and wide variety of things to do.

Sandwiched about halfway between Martinique and St. Vincent, the island is a popular stop for eastern Caribbean cruises.

Like the other eastern islands, St. Lucia also gets more than its share of rain during the Caribbean hurricane season in the summer and especially the fall.

Rain Inches
The hurricane season brings more tropical storms than hurricanes to the eastern Caribbean, but either way it delivers plenty of rain.

St. Lucia’s average rainfall reaches a peak in September and October of about eight inches each month, which is above average for the region during that time of year.

It does slightly better in November when total rainfall drops to about seven inches, according to the World Meteorological Organization. That total also is above average for the region.

The number of days that it rains averages about 20-21 from July through November, so the chances of getting rain on any day of the month is more than 60 percent.

Average Temperatures

Temperatures do much better than the rainfall. The average high in St. Lucia is 86 degrees Fahrenheit and 30 degrees Celsius. The average low is 76 degrees Fahrenheit and 24 degrees Celsius.

As a result, sea water will usually be comfortable enough for swimming because it averages about midway between the low and high temperatures.

The historical highs and lows vary only a few degrees each month, so just about any month is a good time to visit St. Lucia where temperatures are concerned. The same can’t be said for rain.

Is November a Good Time to Go?

Like most Caribbean islands, November is the third worst month of the year to visit St. Lucia after September and October.

Other islands historically see lower rainfall during the month. So based on the time of the year and weather elsewhere, St. Lucia is not the best choice for a vacation in November.

Better choices include Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and the ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

If a visitor is going to multiple islands on a cruise that include St. Lucia, the odds of getting rain decline later in the month as the hurricane season grinds to a halt.
