St. Lucia weather in May has a lower risk of rain than some other Caribbean destinations.

May is still part of the dry season for St. Lucia that begins in January. Other Caribbean destinations such as San Juan aren’t so lucky because May is a brief rainy season for them.

St. Lucia is one of the southernmost islands in the Caribbean. Because of its location, it tends to have warmer weather.

The following averages come from years of data and may vary somewhat from year to year. But they are a useful guide for what to expect with St. Lucia in May.

St. Lucia Temperatures in May

The average daytime temperature for St. Lucia in May is 87 degrees Fahrenheit or nearly 31 Celsius, according to St. Lucia Meteorological Services. The average nighttime temperature is 77 Fahrenheit or 25 Celsius.

St. Lucia temperatures in May are equal to the highest temperatures of the year. These same temperatures stay consistently at about 87 Fahrenheit during the day through October.

Water temperatures stay between the daytime highs and nighttime lows. They will usually feel warm to balmy in May.

Rainfall in May

The average rainfall in St. Lucia during May is a little less than three inches, according to historical data from the St. Lucia Meteorological Service.

This average is a small increase from April, but it starts to climb as the island gets closer to June, which usually has a big jump in rain. June also is the start of the Caribbean hurricane season.

It rains on average 14 days during May compared to 12 days in April.

By comparison, it rains an average of 20 days or more from July through November. Historically, it rains nearly eight inches a month in September and October during the worst months of the Caribbean hurricane season.

Should I Go in May?

St. Lucia’s May weather is both warmer and wetter than April, which has some of the best weather of the year.

Anyone who wants to visit St. Lucia in May should try to go early in the month because the risk of rain is usually lower than later. Otherwise, April is a good choice.
