St. Lucia weather in December is warm and slightly wet, and it’s a good month to visit the island.

St. Lucia is a popular place to visit on eastern Caribbean cruises because of its beauty and tourist attractions. December is the second most popular month to visit St. Lucia after March, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The weather often delivers a good experience for anyone visiting St. Lucia in December.

St. Lucia Temperatures in December

St. Lucia temperatures in December have an average daytime high of 85 degrees Fahrenheit or 29 Celsius, according to the St. Lucia Meteorological Service. It is one of the warmer averages in the Caribbean. Nighttime temperatures average 75 degrees Fahrenheit or 24 Celsius.

Seawater temperatures range between the daytime highs and nighttime lows. So they are comfortable throughout most of the day. Wind chills and cooler northern currents may bring down the comfort level at times, especially in the mornings.

Temperatures don’t get much warmer on the island even during the summer. Then the daytime highs only reach about 87 degrees Fahrenheit.

All of this means that St. Lucia’s December weather is warm, somewhat wet and neither the best nor the worst month to visit the island.

December Rainfall

December is a transition month between the rainy season and the dry season. St. Lucia is one of the wettest islands in the Caribbean, so the rainy season matters quite a bit in planning a resort vacation or cruise visit there.

The island’s rainy season goes from July through November with average monthly rainfall reaching as high as eight inches a month, according to the St. Lucia Meteorological Service.

In contrast, the true dry season of January through May averages only two to three inches a month.

Both December and June, also a transition month, average about four inches. So rainfall in December is moderate but not ideal.

It rains more often in St. Lucia than many other Caribbean islands. Historically, the island has 17 days of rain in December, which is not as bad as the 20 or more during the rainy season.
