Dominica weather in June offers cruise and resort visitors warm temperatures. But it also offers the island’s usual high risk of rain.

This eastern Caribbean island has some of the highest rainfall in the entire Caribbean. It’s not a place to go for plenty of sunshine or white sand beache. But it attracts visitors because the rainfall has made the island an ecotourism destination. It is known for waterfalls and rainforest hikes.

Dominica lies between Antigua and St. Lucia, which makes it a convenient port of call for eastern Caribbean cruises that go to those islands.

Dominica Temperatures in June

Dominica’s average high temperature in June is 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius, according to the Dominica Meteorological Service. The average low is 76 degrees Fahrenheit or nearly 24 Celsius.

Temperatures usually feel warmest along the shorelines and coolest in the rainforest interiors.

By comparison, Dominica temperatures range from the low 80s Fahrenheit in the winter to the mid 80s in the summer months such as June through August.

Water temperatures in June hover in the high 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit or mid 20s Celsius. They usually feel cooler in the mornings and warmer in the afternoons.

Average Rainfall in June

Dominica‘s monthly rainfall ranges from a low of about four inches in February to 15 inches in October and November.

June rainfall in Dominica is about average for the month with six inches, according to the Dominica Meteorological Service. But it’s above average for most Caribbean destinations during June.

The island usually has a brief rainy season in May with an average of nine inches, so June is a bit of a reprieve.

June is the start of the annual Caribbean hurricane season. Rainfall increases in Dominica each month until it reaches the high point in October and November. So out of any month in the summer and fall, Dominica weather in June offers one of the better times to visit the island for a lower risk of rain.
