Dominica Weather in July: Plenty of Rain

Dominica weather in July has the same warm temperatures as June but a higher risk of rain.
This eastern Caribbean island usually has heavy rainfalls throughout the year. It has turned the island into a lush ecotourism destination, mainly for cruise visitors rather than hotel visitors. But some months have less rain than others, so it pays to find out the average monthly weather.
Dominica is known for its rainforest hikes and waterfalls. The best time to visit is during the dry season from February through April. July is a different story.
Dominica Temperatures in July
Dominica’s average high temperature in July is 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius, according to the Dominica Meteorological Service. The average low temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit or nearly 25 Celsius. Highs usually take place during the day and lows at night.
These temperatures are nearly the same as June, August and September. By comparison, daytime temperatures decline to the low 80s Fahrenheit or high 20s Celsius in the winter.

Average Rainfall in July
Dominica’s rainfall in July historically averages more than seven inches, according to the Dominica Meteorological Service. It is one of the highest levels of all major Caribbean cruise and hotel destinations during the month.
By comparison, the average ranges from a low of about four inches in February to 15 inches in October and November. So July falls into the middle to lower end of that range. Still, seven inches is a lot for a Caribbean destination in July.
The average rainfall jumps to more than 10 inches in August because of the annual Caribbean hurricane season. It keeps increasing each month until it reaches the high point in October and November.
July is a better time to visit than August through November. But February through April as well as June are even better choices. May has a brief rainy season.
