Curaçao weather in December is the worst month of the year for rain, but December is the most popular month for tourism. Go figure.

Curaçao is one of the ABC islands along with Aruba and Bonaire in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. All three islands are the among the driest in the Caribbean.

They are known for low rainfall throughout the year. They also largely avoid the worst storms and hurricanes of the annual Caribbean hurricane season. That season goes from June through November.

Curaçao Temperatures in December

Curaçao temperatures in December stay warm with an average high during the day of 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department of Curaçao.

The average low temperature, usually at night, is 77 degrees Fahrenheit or 25 Celsius.

The average water temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit or 27 Celsius is comfortable most of the day. But cool northern currents and the wind chill factor may make swimming a bit chilly sometimes in the mornings.

Curaçao temperatures in December are among the warmest in the Caribbean. They alone are reason to visit the island during this winter month. But the amount of average rain isn’t ideal, although it’s moderate compared to most Caribbean destinations.

Rainfall in December

All three ABC islands have a dry season of less than two inches a month and sometimes less than one inch per month from January through September. The average jumps above three inches for the remaining three months of the year.

Curaçao’s average rainfall rises to nearly four inches historically in December, according to the Meteorological Department of Curaçao. It is the highest out of any month of the year..

December tourism in the Caribbean climbs for many destinations because of northerners who want to escape cold and snow. Families also go on winter break from schools. Curaçao is one of those popular destinations.
