Jamaica weather in August has hot temperatures and a higher than average risk of rain.
The average weather in August for Jamaica is not the best of the year. Late spring, especially in March and April, is a better time to go.
The weather historically is worse in September and especially October during the peak activity of the Caribbean hurricane season. The following weather averages come for Montego Bay and Kingston.

People who mostly vacation in the summer will find that July is a better time to visit Jamaica because the average rainfall is only two inches while June peaks at five. So historically, July has the lowest risk of rain for any summer month.
Jamaica’s coastal areas in August historically have about 10 days of rain during the month. This compares to 12 in September and 13 in October. March averages only five days with rain while both April and July have seven.
Again, July is a less risky month to visit than August. March and April are even better.
Jamaica Temperatures in August
Like most Caribbean destinations, Jamaica temperatures in August are among the highest of the year.
The average high temperature for Jamaica in August is nearly 89 degrees Fahrenheit or about 31 Celsius, according to the Meteorological Service of Jamaica. That makes August the hottest month to visit Jamaica. It is closely followed by July and September.
Even though March has the lowest rainfall of the year, it also has some of the lowest temperatures. The lower temperatures early in the year along with cool northern water currents and strong trade winds make March and April more risky for chilly seawater for swimmers.
Putting rainfall and temperatures together, it’s clear that the spring months are good for people who aren’t beach lovers while the summer is better for warm water.
August is a below average month to visit Jamaica because of the moderately high risk of rain. Tourism statistics from the Caribbean Tourism Association back up the risk. Total tourism to the island in August is lower than June or July.
