Jamaica weather in November has a big improvement over October because it usually rains less often.

The annual Caribbean hurricane season starts at the beginning of June and ends on Nov. 30. The worst months for storm activity are usually September and October.

Although Jamaica gets heavy rains in September and October, the weather takes a turn for the better in November. It’s good enough to tempt more people to visit the island via cruises or its famous all-inclusive resorts.

The following averages for this top-ranked destination are based on a 30-year history and may vary somewhat from year to year. The numbers come from the Meteorological Service of Jamaica.

Caribbean destinations have wildly varying amounts of rain from month to month. But their temperatures stay fairly consistent throughout the year with only small changes each month.

Montego Bay in Jamaica fits that pattern with an average high temperature in November of 88 degrees Fahrenheit or 31 Celsius, according to the Meteorological Service of Jamaica.

It is only three degrees cooler than the hottest month of the year, which takes place in July with an average of 91 degrees Fahrenheit or 33 Celsius.

The average low temperature is 73 degrees Fahrenheit or 23 Celsius. Seawater will usually feel comfortable for swimming.

By comparison, daytime temperatures hover in the low 80s Fahrenheit or mid 20s Celsius during the winter.

November Rainfall

The best way to judge the weather when making plans for a vacation in Jamaica is by looking at the total rainfall and the number of days it rains during the month.

It is common for Caribbean destinations to average about three inches of rain and 15 rain days during an average month, give or take a few.

The weather in Jamaica in November averages less than three inches of rain. It’s a big drop from the seven inches in October (the island’s worst rain month of the year).

It typically rains 10 days during November, which is the third worst month of the year for rain days but still fairly low compared to other Caribbean destinations.

Combined with the total rainfall, the average rainy day will likely have brief showers in small amounts. As a result, rain is not likely to be a major factor in any vacation plans.

Whether to Go

Jamaica weather in November is about average for both total rainfall and temperatures.

Rainfall is much heavier in October and much lighter in December, so anyone planning a November trip should look to go later rather than earlier in the month to improve the odds of good weather.

Anyone who has flexibility in when to go to Jamaica should consider December through April when rainfall is lowest, although temperatures are cooler.
