Jamaica weather in April has a low risk of rain, and it’s warmer than January through March. April is one of the best times to visit the island.

This popular western Caribbean destination is famous for its culture and weather. For vacationers, it’s also famous for beaches, all-inclusive resorts and cruise ports including Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, Falmouth, Kingston and Port Antonio.

The average weather in Jamaica during April is a guide for anyone planning a vacation to the island. Actual temperatures and rainfall will vary somewhat each year, but averages make predicting the weather a little easier.

April Temperatures in Jamaica

Jamaica temperatures in April have an average high of 85 degrees Fahrenheit or 29 Celsius, according to the Meteorological Service of Jamaica.

Daytime temperatures are close to the highest point of the year, which is July at 89 degrees Fahrenheit or 31 Celsius.

The average low, which usually occurs at night, is 71 degrees Fahrenheit or 22 Celsius.

Water temperatures often stay between the daytime highs and the nighttime lows. They are mostly comfortable in April, although northern currents and the wind chill factor may make them a bit cool at times, especially in the early mornings.

The warming temperatures and low risk of rain make April one of the best months to visit Jamaica.

Rainfall in April

April is part of the dry season for Montego Bay and other popular locations on the island. The average rainfall for the month over a 30-year period is about two inches, according to the Meteorological Service of Jamaica.

Rainfall is the second lowest of the year after March, although the difference between the two is slight.

By comparison, the risk of rain increases to four inches in May and five in June. It’s another reason why April is a good time for traavelers to visit the island.

Rainfall eases off in July and starts climbing again to a high point of seven inches in October. That month along with September are the peak months of the annual Caribbean hurricane season.

How often does it rain in Jamaica during April? It rains an average of only seven days. By comparison, March is lowest with five days. October is highest with 13 days.
