Cozumel weather in March is usually sunny and warm with a low amount of rainfall.

The Mexican island of Cozumel is as well known for its beaches as it is for its weather. It also is a hugely popular cruise destination. It is a common port of call for western Caribbean cruises.

Western Caribbean cruises to places such as Cozumel and the Cayman Islands are popular during the late winter and early spring. They tend to have slightly higher temperatures than the rest of the Caribbean. They also are in the middle of a dry season.

Those same destinations are less popular later in the year because they often get quite hot during the summer. Average high temperatures often exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The rainy season beginning in June brings a much higher risk of rain and steadily gets worse through November.

Cozumel Temperatures in March

Cozumel temperatures in March have an average high of 88 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius during the day, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, Mexico’s national meteorology service. The island is several degrees hotter in March than most Caribbean destinations.

Nighttime is quite a bit cooler with average lows hovering around 69 degrees Fahrenheit or 20 Celsius. That means long pants might be wise for any late shopping, dining or club hopping.

In fact, the spread between average highs and lows is wider than most months and most destinations in the Caribbean.

Cooler nights make seawater temperatures cooler in the mornings.

Sunbathers, swimmers and anyone wanting to try watersports may find seawater more comfortable in the mid to late afternoon.

Rainfall in March

The news about rain gets even better. March historically brings the least amount of rain throughout the entire year to Cozumel. The average rainfall for Cozumel in March is only a little more than one inch, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional.

This is another reason why the western Caribbean is popular for cruise visits during the spring.

It is important to know the average of a little more than one inch is based on 30 years of data. The actual total during the month may be a bit more or even less than an inch in any one year.

Should I Visit Cozumel in March?

Cozumel weather in March is ideal for visitors because of its combination of warm but not extreme temperatures and especially because of its low average rainfall.

Along with April, March is one of the two best months of the year to visit Cozumel. In April, temperatures are slightly warmer and rainfall only slightly higher.
