Cozumel weather in June is historically hot and and wet. It’s not the best time to visit.
The largest Mexican island, just off the Caribbean coast near Playa del Carmen, is a hugely popular destination for western Caribbean cruises.
These cruises are common from December through April during the annual dry season. But the numbers drop off in May and June for good reason.
Cozumel Temperatures in June
June of course is summer in Cozumel and time for the hottest temperatures on the island. The average high temperature in Cozumel during June is 90 degrees Fahrenheit or 32 Celsius, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, Mexico’s national meteorology service.

I clearly remember going there on a cruise when temperatures were above 90. The air was humid and stifling, and it made shopping uncomfortable.
Average high temperatures are nearly as hot during March and April when rainfall is lowest.
For anyone who wants cooler temperatures, the better times to go are December through February when the average highs are about 84 Fahrenheit or 29 Celsius.
Either way, June is one of the worst months to visit Cozumel because of hot and humid temperatures and a high risk of rain.
Cozumel Rainy Season in June
The Cozumel rainy season starts to heat up in May and hits the island with full force in June. The average rainfall during June is nearly eight inches, according to historical records from Mexico’s National Water Commission, the country’s meteorology service.
That total is far higher than the one to two inches Cozumel averages annually in March and April. They are the best months to visit for a combination of warm temperatures and low risk of rain.
By comparison, the average rainfall drops to just less than five inches in July, increases to more than five in August, and climbs again to the highest point of the year in September and October with more than nine inches each. For that reason, September and October are the worst months to visit Cozumel.
It rains on average about 13 days in June or once every two to three days. The average in March and April is only four days per month. The total number of days with rain peaks at 16 in October.
So Cozumel weather in June is not the worst month for the risk of rain, but it’s far from the best.
