Barbados Average Monthly Weather

The average weather in Barbados maintains one of the smallest temperature ranges throughout the year of any Caribbean destination.

This southeastern Caribbean island is a popular port of call for cruise ships because of its shopping, beaches and other attractions. It's also popular because it is close to other ports of call in the region.

Predictable and steady temperatures make it an appealing destination during the winter, spring and summer. It is less appealing in the fall because of heavy rains during the Caribbean hurricane season.

Barbados Monthly Temperatures

The average daytime temperature is about 83 degrees Fahrenheit or 25 degrees Celsius in the winter, according to historical data from the Barbados Meteorological Services.

The warmest month of the year is August with an average high of 86 degrees Fahrenheit or about 30 degrees Celsius during August

The same narrow range for temperatures also happens at night. Average nighttime temperatures hover between 73 degrees Fahrenheit or about 23 degrees Celsius in the winter to about 77 degrees Fahrenheit or 25 degrees Celsius in the summer.

The nighttime temperatures are slightly warmer than many other Caribbean destinations. Warm nighttime temperatures increase the odds of more comfortable water for swimming in the morning.

Over the course of a year, the average high and low temperatures vary by only a few degrees each month.

Barbados Dry and Rainy Seasons

Rainfall varies much more throughout the year than temperatures.

Barbados on average receives about two inches of rain each month from January through May during an annual dry season

Late winter to early summer is an ideal time for a vacation or cruise to the island because of the low risk of rain and warmer temperatures

Average rainfall increases to more than three inches in June and keeps increasing each month until it hits a high point of 6.5 inches in October and November during the height of the Caribbean hurricane season.

The island also receives nearly 6 inches of rain on average every August and September during hurricane season.

Hurricane season runs from June through November with the fall months experiencing the most rain and highest risk of either tropical storms or hurricanes.

Hurricanes rarely hit any island directly and instead pass nearby. Islands such as Barbados experience heavy rainfall and high winds for brief periods of time.

June, July and December have moderate rainfall. June and July are offer warm temperatures to families on summer break from schools. December has lower temperatures but an escape from northern winters.
