Barbados weather in August has the same warm temperatures as July but a much higher risk of rain.

Barbados is a popular island for cruise and hotel visitors in the eastern Caribbean. The island is especially popular during the dry season from December through May.

It is less popular for good reason in August, which is the second month of the island’s rainy season.

Temperatures in August

Barbados temperatures in August have an average high of 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius, according to the Barbados Meteorological Services. The average low is 77 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 Celsius. The low usually takes place at night.

August temperatures are only about three degrees warmer than January and February, which are the coolest months of the year. Temperatures in August are similar to other summer months.

Water temperatures usually hover about midway between the daytime highs and nighttime lows. Unlike sometimes in winter, they feel comfortable for swimmers throughout the day in August.

Rainfall in August

February and March historically are the driest months of the year for Barbados. They average about two inches of rain per month. The risk of rain for Barbados increases to an average of four inches in July and climbs even higher to six inches in August, according to the Barbados Meteorological Services.

Six inches in August is higher than most Caribbean destinations during the month.

Rainfall averages six inches a month or more for the next several months. Rainfall historically averages nearly seven inches in October, which is the high point of the year.

August is a risky month to visit Barbados because of the higher than normal amount of rain. May and June are better choices for visitors because they have the same temperatures and a lower risk of rain.
