Bahamas Weather in November: Rain, Temperatures

Bahamas weather in November is warm enough for a visit to the islands along with a lower risk of rain.

November is the final month of the Caribbean hurricane season. Historically, it is one of the months with the lowest risk of tropical storms or hurricanes during the season. The Bahamas benefit from the end of the hurricane season in November because they have less rain than months such as August through October.

Three locations in the Bahamas are tracked for their weather in part because of their popularity and in part because they represent the northern, middle and southern areas of this widely dispersed chain of islands. They are Freeport, Nassau and Inagua.

Nassau Weather

This video explains Caribbean weather in November and which islands are the best and worst to visit for weather.

Nassau in November has an average high temperature of more than 82 degrees Fahrenheit or nearly 28 Celsius, according to the Bahamas Department of Meteorology. This is seven degrees cooler than the high point of the year and more than four degrees warmer than the low point.

In other words, it could be better and it could be worse.

The average low temperature is 69 degrees Fahrenheit or 21 Celsius. It is six degrees cooler than the high month and more than four degrees higher than the low month.

Because of low nighttime temperatures, seawater will likely feel chilly at times, especially in the mornings.

Rainfall totals a little more than three inches—equal to the worst month of the year for the arid Aruba. It rains an average of 10 days during the month.

Freeport Weather

Freeport is one of the northernmost destinations in the Bahamas and a popular cruise stop, especially for cruises that go only to the Bahamas.

Freeport has an average high temperature in November of about 81 degrees Fahrenheit or 27 Celsius, according to the Bahamas Department of Meteorology. It has an average low of about 67 degrees Fahrenheit or 19 Celsius.

The high temperature is about nine degrees cooler in Fahrenheit than the high months of the year—90 degrees in July and August.

Rainfall is moderate compared to some other months at a little less than four inches. The total number of days that it rains is 10.

Inagua Weather

Great Inagua island is not well known, but it is the third largest island and located in the southernmost area of the chain near Turks & Caicos as well as Dominican Republic.

This ecotourism destination is the warmest of the islands with an average high temperature of 87 degrees Fahrenheit or 31 Celsius. It has an average low of 71 degrees Fahrenheit or 22 Celsius.

It also has the least amount of rainfall at less than three inches a month and the fewest days with rain with a total of eight.

Whether to Go

Bahamas weather in November is actually quite warm compared to the five months that come after it—December through April are cooler for all three islands than in November.

But rainfall and rain days are lower for the next five months as well.

The cooler temperatures of the Bahamas from late fall to early spring make sea waters somewhat uncomfortable for swimming, but air temperatures are still warm enough for many other outdoor activities that don’t require getting wet—golf, sailing, fishing, shopping, etc.
