Bahamas weather in March is moderately warm, mostly sunny and free of hurricane threats.

The climate in the Bahamas is divided into two seasons. The rainy season runs from June to November and the dry season goes from December to May.

March falls right in the middle the nation’s dry season, increasing the likelihood of nice weather.

The Bahamas, known for their world class shopping, accessibility to tourists and stunning beaches, appeal to tourists because they are easy to reach and offer plenty of attractions. They also are a major cruise destination.

Bahamas Temperatures in March

Temperatures in the Bahamas increase in March, with an average high of 79 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 Celsius, according to the Bahamas Department of Meteorology. The average low is 66 Fahrenheit or 19 Celsius.

The Bahamas aren’t actually in the Caribbean Sea but rather north of it. As a result, temperatures are somewhat cooler and tend to fluctuate more than temperatures on other islands in the Caribbean. By comparison, daytime temperatures in the Caribbean hover in the low to mid 80s Fahrenheit during March.

The average annual temperature in the Bahamas is 83 degrees. July, August, and September are the warmest months with average high temperatures rising to 89 degrees or about 32 Celsius. Low temperatures hover around 77 Fahrenheit or 25 Celsius.

January and February are the coolest months with the average high at 77 Fahrenheit or 25 Celsius and the average low at 65 Fahrenheit or 18 Celsius.

Seawater temperatures stay more consistent throughout the year, ranging between the upper 60s and mid 70s Fahrenheit. In March, the temperature of the water is usually in the upper 60s to low 70s Fahrenheit and often uncomfortable for swimming, especially in the mornings.

Rainfall

On average, it rains only seven days during the month of March, according to the Bahamas Department of Meteorology. By comparison, it rains an average of 19 days in August during the rainy season.

The Bahamas receive an average of 50 inches of rainfall per year. The majority of this rain occurs during the wet season, or hurricane season, which runs from June to November.

Months with the highest amount of rainfall include June, July, August and most of all in September, when the amount of rainfall rises to more than seven inches.

In March, the Bahamas receive only 1.6 inches of rainfall on average.  Most of this rain comes in the form of a short, sporadic shower that passes quickly. These showers are likely to fall around mid afternoon.

Visitors to the Bahamas in March will not have to worry about hurricanes or particularly bad weather.

March is a good month to visit the Bahamas, especially for land activities. Because of cool nighttime temperatures, it is not a good month for swimmers.
