Cabo San Lucas Weather in December: Rain, Temperatures

Cabo San Lucas weather in December historically offers cooler days with low risk of rain to anyone who visits this cruise port on the western coast of Mexico.
The port of Cabo San Lucas is at the southern tip of Baja California. Mexican Riviera cruises often visit the port because of its convenient location and warm, dry weather. In fact, it’s the most popular port on the Mexican Riviera, in part because of its great weather.
December Temperatures
Cabo San Lucas temperatures in December have an average high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 Celsius, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, Mexico’s national meteorology service. They have a nighttime low of 57 degrees Fahrenheit or 14 Celsius.
December temperatures are near the low point of the year. Only January is cooler.
The nighttime lows make seawater chilly for swimming even in the daytime, especially in the mornings. So beach lovers won’t spend much if any time in the water. But at least the air temperatures are comfortable.
By comparison, daytime temperatures average in the low 90s Fahrenheit or low 30s Celsius from July through October. They are the best months for beach lovers to visit the port.
December Rainfall
Cabo San Lucas is usually quite dry in December. Rainfall averages less than one inch, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional. Historically, it rains an average of only one day during the month.
December is the second month of the lengthy dry season when it rains one inch a month or less from November through July. Some months have nearly no rain at all.
By comparison, the port has a mild and brief rainy season from August through October.
August averages less than three inches a month, September more than three inches and October two inches. The risk of rain increases during this time because of the annual Pacific hurricane season.
Cabo San Lucas weather in December has dry but somewhat cool weather. It is a good month for visiting for anyone who enjoys land activities, but it is not a good month for anyone who likes swimming at beaches.
