Cancun weather in July offers a break between heavy rains in June and August.

This major resort destination on the eastern coast of Mexico near Cozumel attracts millions of visitors every year, especially in the winter and spring.

It’s well known for restaurants, nightlife and the huge Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. But it is not known for great weather in the summer and fall.

Cancun Temperatures in Juy

Even though rainfall usually eases off in July, the temperatures definitely do not.

The average high temperature in Cancun during July is 92 degrees Fahrenheit or 33 degrees Celsius, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, Mexico’s national meteorology service. July is the hottest month of the year except for the slightly hotter August.

The daytime highs and nighttime lows in July are among the hottest in the Caribbean. They make the seawater warm enough for swimming if not balmy during the day.

Average July Rainfall

Cancun has an average rainfall in July of a little more than two inches, according to Servicio Meteorológico Nacional. The rainfall in July is better than more than five inches in June and more than four inches in August.

It’s a rare break for any Caribbean destination because most of them have an increase in rain between June and July rather than a decrease.

Rainfall for most destinations in the Caribbean usually increases each month during the summer and into the fall because of the annual Caribbean hurricane season.

It officially goes from June through November and reaches a high point of activity in September and October. For Cancun, rainfall has the highest levels during those two months with an average of nearly 10 inches each. They are the riskiest months for vacationers to visit Cancun.

Cancun weather in July is better than June or August for another reason. The city averages nine days of rain during the month compared to 11 in June and 10 in August.
