Aruba weather in October has more rain than usual but not much compared to other Caribbean islands during the month.
This popular island is one of the most arid destinations in the Caribbean.
People don’t go there for lush rain forests because Aruba doesn’t have any. The weather is so dry that the interior is mainly scrub brush and cactuses. (ATV rides are very dusty, as we found out.)
People go to Aruba because of the great beaches and snorkeling, easy access to everything and festive Dutch atmosphere.
They also go there because of the safe and predictable weather.
The following averages are based on a 30-year history and will vary somewhat from year to year. But they follow patterns that help travelers know what to expect.
Rainfall
Aruba averages only about one inch of rain per month from January through September, according to the Meteorological Department of Aruba. It jumps to an average of three inches from October through December.
Those numbers are remarkable for two reasons.
One is that September and October are the most active months of the annual Caribbean hurricane season.
Most Caribbean destinations see heavy rains in September, sometimes approaching eight to 10 inches during the month for certain locations. But not Aruba.
The other reason it is remarkable is that October’s three inches is still well below other destinations, and the Caribbean in October is the second worst month of the year for rains, tropical storms and hurricanes.
The average number of days that it rains is just under seven, which is quite low compared to other places. It also means that the odds of getting rain on any day are less than one in four.

Whether to Go
Among any Caribbean destination in October, Aruba is the best choice for a vacation at that time of the year.
Other months will have lower rainfall, but even in October the chances of rain are low.
That said, Aruba has occasionally suffered from the effects of tropical storms and hurricanes that pass through the region.
On even more rare occasions, a hurricane has passed quite close to the island.
But the odds of being there when a hurricane passes nearby are low.
Anyone who must plan a Caribbean vacation in October should consider Aruba as one of the top choices.
