Aruba weather in May historically has very little rain and is warmer than the typical Caribbean destination.

This popular island is in the southern Caribbean and near the coast of Venezuela. It has a climate more arid than many of its Caribbean neighbors.

The weather in May is sunny with a slight and ever present breeze to keep visitors comfortable.

Temperatures in May

Aruba temperatures in May have an average high of 89 degrees Fahrenheit or 32 Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department of Aruba. The average low is 79 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 Celsius.

In May, the sea temperature in Aruba is usually quite comfortable and averages 81 degrees Fahrenheit or 27 Celsius.

Temperatures are consistently warm throughout the year.

Compared to May, the warmest months are June through November, when daytime temperatures can rise to more than 90 degrees Fahrenheit or about 33 Celsius. The heat is especially noticeable in the island’s interior. Beach sand will sometimes feel uncomfortably hot on bare feet, as we found out from our summertime visits there.

The coolest months are January through March, when highs even out at around 79 degrees Fahrenheit.

Because of the arid and desert climate of Aruba, temperatures vary throughout the day. They are likely to be coolest at nighttime.

In the early morning and evening, temperatures are likely to be around 81.6 degrees. They usually rise to around 87 degrees by midday.

The ever-present trade winds in Aruba help to make even the warmest temperatures feel more comfortable.

Aruba has little humidity throughout the year. The heat, therefore, is a dry heat, making the air feel less unpleasant.

Sea temperatures remain fairly consistent throughout the year, usually staying between 79 degrees and 83 degrees Fahrenheit. There are exceptions; the water was too chilly for swimming for us and other people during a February visit.

Rainfall in May

Aruba has little rainfall throughout the year. The amount of rainfall increases during hurricane season, and Aruba receives the most rainfall between October and December.

On average, Aruba has only one inch of rainfall during the month of May, according to the Meteorological Department of Aruba. It rains about seven days out of the month.

Rain is most likely to occur at 8 a.m., and is least likely to occur at 8 p.m.

Any rain that does occur is likely to be in the form of a light and passing shower.

Should I Visit Aruba in May?

May is an excellent time of year to visit Aruba. Temperatures are warm, but not at their yearly peak, and there is very little rainfall.
