San Juan weather in July has some of the hottest weather of the year. It also has a somewhat higher risk of rain compared to June.

The San Juan cruise port attracts hundreds of thousands of passengers each year on eastern Caribbean cruises. It has major historical attractions, especially at Old San Juan, as well as plenty of beaches, shopping and other attractions.

Like most Caribbean destinations, it has warm to hot weather throughout the year, while rainfall varies depending on the season.

San Juan Temperatures in July

San Juan temperatures in July have an average high of more than 88 degrees Fahrenheit or nearly 31 Celsius, according to the U.S. National Weather Service. The average low temperature is 77 degrees Fahrenheit or 25 Celsius. The low usually occurs at night.

July temperatures are the highest of the year along with June and August through October. By comparison, daytime temperatures reach a low point of 83 degrees Fahrenheit or 28 Celsius in January.

Water temperatures in July usually average in the high 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit depending on the time of day. They feel quite comfortable and sometimes balmy during the month.

July is the second official month of the annual Caribbean hurricane season. San Juan historically has higher rainfall in July than the dry season from January through April. It averages four and a half inches during July, according to the U.S. National Weather Service.

But July is lower than the most rainy months of the year, which are August through November with an average of five to six inches each month.

It does rain more often in July than in January through June. The total days with rain during July historically averages 14, which is about the same as August through December. By comparison, it rains eight to nine days on average from February through April.

San Juan weather in July is somewhat risky because of more rain than usual. Anyone planning a Caribbean vacation in the summer that might include San Juan should consider going in June rather than July. Otherwise, July is a better choice than August, which usually has even more rain.
