Jewel of the Seas from Royal Caribbean is a sleek ship that can handle 2,500 passengers and more than 800 crew members.

At 962 feet long, the ship has plenty of things to do and a lot of room in which to do it.

The ship has 1,055 staterooms with 817 that have an ocean view and 577 that have balconies.

Like most cruise ships, Jewel of the Seas has a full list of dining, recreation and entertainment options.

The main dining room can handle more than 1,000 guests at a time. The ship also has several complimentary cafes, a steakhouse and Italian restaurant with cover charge, and a specialty coffee house.

Recreation options include a rock-climbing wall, mini golf course, golf simulator, jogging track, three pools, three whirlpools, a spa and a fitness center that offers classes on yoga and Pilates.

Jewel of the Seas offers entertainment options like most cruise ships including a main stage theater, casino, video arcade, shopping area and 16 bars, lounges and clubs. It also has an outdoor movie screen.

Family options range from child and teen educational and recreational programs to a children’s pool, teen lounge and disco, and family games, contests, classes and lectures.

Staterooms

Staterooms are divided into interior, oceanview, balcony and suite / deluxe. Interior staterooms are the least expensive and suite / deluxe are the most expensive.

A stateroom will be more expensive with an oceanview than an interior room without adding space. Likewise, a stateroom with a balcony will be more expensive than an oceanview without a balcony also without adding space.

The larger staterooms often have king-sized beds while most of the others have twin beds that can convert into king-sized beds. They also have vanity areas, private baths, flat panel TVs and mini bars.

The standard interior stateroom measures 162 square feet. The oceanview stateroom has a smaller option at 169 square feet or a larger one that can handle up to six people at 265 square feet. The larger option also has a sofa and sitting area.

Two options are available for anyone wanting an oceanview with balcony. The smaller one has 162 square feet with a balcony of 51 square feet. The larger option has 189 square feet, a sitting area with sofa, and a balcony that is 53 square feet. Rates vary depending on the deck.

Suites are available for passengers with large families or large budgets. They all have sitting areas and balconies. They range from 282 square feet for the smallest option to the Royal Suite with 1,156 square feet, whirlpool bathtub, baby grand piano, concierge service and the largest available balcony at 328 square feet.
