Panama weather in August historically has hot temperatures and plenty of rain. August is not the best month to visit this Central American country.
Panama has three major vacation destinations. They are the Panama City cruise port on the Pacific coast, Colón cruise port on the Caribbean coast and the Bocas del Toro beach and hotel destination on the Caribbean coast.
Colón and Panama City share similar weather because they are only 46 miles apart. Despite being on opposite coasts, they also have similar hurricane seasons that bring plenty of rain. Panama City has the Pacific hurricane season and Colon has the Caribbean hurricane season. Both seasons begin and end at nearly the same times—mid-May and June through November.
