Mazatlan Climate

Mazatlan weather is usually fantastic, thus the reason tourists flock to this location every year.

The temperature doesn't get drastically hot or cold, allowing visitors to enjoy the outdoors any time of year. Mazatlan has a tropical climate with warm/dry winters and hot/wet summers.

Mazatlan tends to be humid with the average around 75%. In the summer months it is much more humid, so be prepared to sweat. Winds remain calm, with average speeds reaching 10mph.


The hottest months of the year for Mazatlan are June through October. The maximum temperatures reach 88 degrees F. The lows during that time dip into the high 70s. These summer months have hot days, warm nights and higher humidity percentages.

January, February and March are the cooler months, with maximum temperatures of 75 degrees F. Daily minimums will go down to the high 50s, usually occurring during night hours.

These winter months are better for traveling with mild temperatures and low humidity. There is also far less rainfall during these months.


Rainfall varies drastically throughout the year, with July though September being the wettest months. September gets the most rainfall with an average of 227 mm. for the month. This equals out to be approximately 12 days of rain. Rain mainly comes in the early morning or late afternoon.

The driest months are February through May. Sometimes there will be no rainy days in May at all with an average of 0.1 mm of rain for the month. February-April usually averages 1-4mm per month.

Hurricane Season

Mexico's hurricane season runs from June until November. Fortunately, hurricanes affect the southern Pacific coast of Mexico much more than that of Mazatlan.

Best Time to Visit Mazatlan

The month of March is the best time to visit Mazatlan. The days are warm, the nights are cool and there is low humidity. Just make sure you do not travel the week of Easter, unless you don't mind crowds.
