St. Maarten’s weather in June has an average high temperature of 88 degrees Fahrenheit and average rainfall of only two inches. It’s hard to beat.

Cruise travel planners will find that St. Maarten is one of the most popular cruise destinations in the region. It averages about 2 million cruise visitors every year, the Caribbean Tourism Organization says. The island also attracts about a half million hotel and resort visitors.

We have visited the island both by cruise (twice) and to stay for a week in a hotel. The weather was beautiful all three times.

The weather there is usually ideal for cruise visitors in March and especially April. But June is a different matter because it is the first official month of the Caribbean hurricane season.

Still, if history is any indication, June is a good month for cruise passengers or resort stayers to visit St. Maarten.

February and March have the lowest rainfall of the year along with June, but temperatures are three to four degrees cooler then. Water temperatures may feel chilly in the morning in February and March. St. Maarten’s water temperature in June will feel comfortable to balmy throughout the day.

Air temperatures are warm during the month. The average high temperature in June is 88 degrees Fahrenheit or 31 Celsius, the island’s meteorological department says. The average low temperature is 79 Fahrenheit or 26 Celsius.

So cruise planners who want to spend some time on St. Maarten beaches including Great Bay, which is right by the cruise docks, should consider going in June rather than February or March.

St. Maarten’s weather in June makes the month one of the best times to visit the island.

Rainfall in June

Even though June is the first month of the Caribbean hurricane season, it historically isn’t a problem for St. Maarten.

The average rainfall in June is only about two inches, according to the Meteorological Department of St. Maarten. Keep in mind that this is a historical average that gives travel planners a general idea of what to expect. The actual total may be higher or lower during a single visit.

For most other months of the year, St. Maarten averages three to five inches of rain per month. Cruise visitors will have a higher risk of rain if they visit during those months.

The June average of two inches equals the low point of the year in February and March. It also is much better than four inches in May and the high point of the year of six inches in November.
