Royal Caribbean says Navigator of the Seas is the first ship to offer a unique feature in its staterooms—virtual balconies.

Other RC ships have added this amenity, which is a floor to ceiling high-definition screen that shows the sea and destinations in real time.

The feature is an upgrade from the traditional interior rooms that have no views or balconies and therefore costs more for the experience.

Navigator of the Seas also has another new feature for its oceanview staterooms. These upgrades have panoramic floor-to-ceiling window views.

The ship has a full range of recreational experiences, both the ones that cruise ships have offered for many years plus newer ones that are becoming more popular.

The recent additions include the FlowRider surf simulator, a rock-climbing wall that overlooks the sea (hang on tight) and an ice-skating rink. Traditional recreation includes a basketball court, jogging track, spa facility and mini golf course.

Entertainment covers the range of a 220-foot outdoor movie theater, programs for babies and children, casino, main stage, shopping, and 15 bars, clubs and lounges.

Staterooms

Navigator of the Seas has the standard four stateroom categories of Interior, Oceanview, Balcony and Suite / Deluxe.

The least expensive is Interior and the most expensive is Suite / Deluxe. Prices vary based on the amount of space in each cabin along with special features such as the virtual balcony and panoramic windows.

All of the staterooms have private bathrooms and at least two twin beds that convert into a king-sized bed, while a few of the highest-end staterooms come with kings.

The least expensive option is the standard interior stateroom that comes with the twin beds, vanity area and 150 square feet of space. The next step up is not common among cruise ships—the Promenade Interior with bowed windows offering a view of the Royal Promenade plus a sitting area with a sofa and 160 square feet.

Navigator of the Seas also has a standard interior stateroom with a virtual balcony. the virtual balcony is a floor-to-ceiling high-definition screen with real-time views of the ocean and destinations on arrival. The total space is 150 square feet and includes a sitting room with sofa.

The ocean view staterooms range from 160 square feet to 406 square feet. The top of the class accommodates families and offers panoramic floor-to-ceiling wraparound windows, a curtained section with bunk beds, a living area with a double sofa bed, and one and a half baths.

Balcony staterooms range in price depending on the deck where they are located. The smaller option has about 184 square feet of living space and about 46 square feet of balcony. The larger option has 199 square feet of space and 65 square feet of balcony.

Cruise travelers with large expense budgets may choose one of the Suite / Deluxe options. They all come with balconies and range from 297 square feet of living space and 73 square feet of balcony to the Royal Suite with 1,336 feet of space and 266 of balcony. It also comes with a baby grand piano, whirlpool bathtub and concierge service. It’s truly fit for a royal budget.
