March is the second most popular month of the year to visit Antigua. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but Antigua weather in March also is the second best of the year.

This slice of paradise in the Caribbean has 365 beaches or one for every day of the year. While only a small number of them receive the majority of visitors, those visitors probably agree that any beach is more enjoyable when the skies are clear and the temperatures are warm.

People may have different opinions about what makes the best weather. In this case, the average amount of rain that falls each month has a lot to do with what makes an island popular during certain times of the year.

Average Rainfall

Rain Inches
1.8
Antigua has experienced an average of 1.8 inches of rain during March over a 30-year history, according to the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorology Service.

The amount is only slightly more than the 1.5 inches on average in February and well below September, October and November when more than five inches fall each month during the peak time of the Caribbean hurricane season.

January through April is a dry season for the island in general and a popular time to visit.

The average amount of inches that fall is a useful guide for deciding when to visit a Caribbean island. Another guide is the number of days that it rains each month.

In the case of Antigua, the average number of rain days is eight, which is the same as February and the lowest of the year.

By comparison, the rain days reach 13 in August and October through December. They total 11 in July and September. So a visitor who spends a week on the island might see rain on only two days.

Average Temperatures

Antigua in March may have slightly more rain and may not be as popular as February, but it does have better temperatures.

The average high temperatures in March are 83.5 degrees Fahrenheit and 28.6 degrees Celsius or about a half degree warmer than February. That change doesn’t sound like much, but it makes a difference with water temperatures and their comfort level.

The average low temperatures that usually occur at night are 72.5 degrees Fahrenheit and 22.5 degrees Celsius.

Antigua’s high temperatures average in the middle 80s F for the entire year. The island is slightly cooler than some Caribbean destinations with averages that sometimes reach into the 90s during the summer, such as Aruba, Jamaica, Cozumel and the Cayman Islands.
