Antigua has two golf courses to serve both resort and cruise visitors to this eastern Caribbean island.

Both 18-hole courses are within easy driving distance of Antigua resorts and the cruise port. But they have a few key differences including their length and landscapes.

The best times to golf in Antigua are January through April as well as June during the island's dry season.

Cedar Valley Golf Club

Cedar Valley Golf Club is a par 70 course and 6,157 yards long. Ralph Aldridge designed the original nine-hole course in 1970. It expanded to 18 holes and opened to the public in 1977.

The course has a bar, clubhouse and restaurant. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Private tuition is available.

The course is at the northern end of the island about three miles or 10 minutes by car northeast of St. John's. Its location near the cruise port makes it a possible attraction for cruise visitors who can go there by taxi, rental car or excursion shuttle. Left- and right-hand clubs are available for rent as well as carts.

The blue tee is 6,157 yards long with a 124 slope. The white tee is 5,884 yards with a 122 slope. The red tee is 5,528 yards with a 120 slope. Advanced individual tee times are available. Contact the course by phone or email for the most current green fees.

“It is a very beautiful course with each hole offering different challenges," one reviewer said.

Jolly Harbour Golf Course

Jolly Harbour Golf Course is seven miles or 30 minutes south of St. John on the western coast of Antigua. Its location may make it more appealing to resort visitors and less appealing to Antigua cruise visitors.

The course has 18 holes like Cedar Valley. It is a par 71, 5,587 yards long at the blue tee and offers a hilly landscape with seven lakes. The red tee is 4,554 yards.

Jolly Harbour was designed by Karl Litton. It is certified with a 67.8 handicap and 121 slope rating.

“Could be acceptable for beginners as a short and not challenging course," a reviewer said.

Jolly Harbour Marina Village is a large development that includes a marina, real estate and other facilities in addition to a golf course.

Contact the course via phone to get the most current fee.
