Antigua weather in April historically has been much like every other month on this southeastern Caribbean island.

In fact, Antigua has some of the most consistent weather in the entire Caribbean.

Average temperatures vary only a few degrees each month. They range from the low 80s to upper 80s Fahrenheit or high 20s to low 30s Celsius all year.

Rainfall also follows a more narrow range each month than most destinations.

April is about average for rainfall and slightly better than average for daytime temperatures.

Average Temperatures

Antigua has an average high temperature in April of 85 degrees Fahrenheit or 29 degrees Celsius, according to the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorology Service. That temperature is about two degrees higher than the lowest of the year and three degrees below the highest point of the year. In other words, it’s right in the middle.

The average low is 74 degrees Fahrenheit or 23 degrees Celsius, which is only two degrees above the low point of the year and five degrees below the high of the year.

Water temperatures will stay between the daytime highs and nighttime lows. They will normally feel comfortable for swimming in April.

Average Rainfall

Over a 30-year period, Antigua has averaged less than three inches of rain in April, which is slightly above the 1.5 to 2.2 inches for the driest part of the year in January through March, according to the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorology Service.

The average also is better than the 4.4 inches in May, which is a brief rainy season for much of the Caribbean, and even better than the five or more inches in September through November during the main rainy season. Even so, Antigua’s rainy season is milder than much of the Caribbean.

Another brief dry season arrives in June, when average rainfall drops down again to about two inches during the month.

It rains on average about nine days during April, again slightly higher than the eight days in February, March and June that are the low points of the year.

Whether to Go

Antigua weather in April offers a combination of warming temperatures with lower risk of rain.

The island has more visitors from December through March because of eastern Caribbean cruise visitors who want to get away from northern winters.

As a result, crowds will be lighter in April, which in combination with better weather make April one of the better months to visit.
