Anguilla weather in October has a higher than average risk of rain along with warmer than average temperatures.

The island, which is a quick ferry ride over from the larger St. Maarten, is a quiet destination that draws almost no cruise ships or major airlines. But it has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean and plenty of good weather most of the year.

October is one exception to good weather because the month is the second most active of the Caribbean hurricane season after September. Although four inches of rain is moderate compared to most islands in October, it also is deceptive.

Anguilla Rain in October

The historical average of four inches of rain in October compares to five inches in September and six inches in November. The fact that October is slightly less than the other two months is more a matter of luck. The risk remains high.

August and December average four inches as well. These statistics come from the Meteorological Department of St. Maarten.

By comparison, the island averages about two to three inches of rain from January through June, except for a brief spike in May. Anyone who wants to visit Anguilla for the sake of the island beaches will find this time of year a better choice than during the hurricane season.

The risk of rain keeps visitors away. The level of overnight visitors in October is the second lowest of the year after September, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
