Anguilla Weather in January

Visitors to Anguilla will find that the weather in January is no different than what they will find on St. Maarten.

A strong, athletic swimmer could cross the channel between the two islands that lie only about 7.5 miles apart at the closest points.

Anguilla weather in January has averaged in the low 80s Fahrenheit with about three inches of rain over a 30-year period.

The island is usually pleasant for land activities but a bit cool in the water depending on the time of day.

Temperatures in January

The average high temperature is 83 degrees Fahrenheit or about 28 Celsius, according to area data from the Meteorological Department of St. Maarten.

The average low temperature for the month is 74 Fahrenheit or 23 Celsius.

Seawater temperatures usually hover between the highs and lows of the day. Visitors may find water pleasant enough for swimming in the afternoons and somewhat cool in the mornings.

These temperatures are the low point for the island during the year.

Rainfall in January

Anguilla doesn't have some of the big spikes in rain that other destinations experience during the Caribbean hurricane season in the fall months.

It does see total rainfall around three to four inches for most months of the year. The average in January is three as well.

February, March and July do better at about two inches. November is the worst at six inches, followed by September with an average of five inches.

Whether to Go in January

Anguilla weather in January is usually dry and warm enough to make it a good month to go for visitors.

Anyone who prefers low risk of rain with warmer temperatures and especially warmer seawater may prefer February through April.

June and July also have low risk of rain and the hottest temperatures of the year in the upper 80s Fahrenheit and low 30s Celsius.
