5 Popular Ensenada Restaurants

Ensenada
Restaurants and festivity fill Ensenada streets.

Ensenada, one of the most colorful port cities in Baja California, welcomes visitors all year round to enjoy its numerous invaluable attractions, whether it may be its pristine beaches, pine forests or the unique culture of its friendly people.

Beyond those attractions, Ensanada also prides itself in amazing food. We take a look at five such popular restaurants.

1. Grupo El Rey Sol

The oldest French restaurant in Ensenada, and by extension Mexico, Grupo El Rey Sol boasts more than 65 years’ of experience providing great culinary choices to locals and tourists alike.

Over this extensive period, the restaurant has received numerous accolades for its quality service and customer satisfaction. Visitors often have traditional French dishes as well as a number of hybrid choices.

Beyond providing tasty dishes, there is the posh Posada El Rey Sol, a boutique hotel across the street featuring comfortable and unique eco-rooms. The property boasts two acres of ocean front gardens perfect for an affordable upscale wedding or just relaxing with family and friends.

2. LAJA Cocina de Baja California

LAJA Cocina prides itself in providing only dishes that are of local ingredients and recipes. In fact, dishes here are made from fresh ingredients from the garden and local produce, in a vineyard setting.

Some say LAJA Cocina is the “French Laundry of the Valley”; and for good reason as here visitors can also enjoy amazing wines created by award winning enologist Andres Blanco and former Four Seasons Chef Jair Tellez.

3. Boules, San Miguel

Boules, San Miguel is a casual and laidback restaurant that offers various seafood and meat based dishes. Local wines are also popular here.

Located on the sideway of a cobblestone street, this restaurant gives that antique feel in a laid-back atmosphere. It’s often used as a place for a group meet-up; however, it’s always best to make reservations with owner Javier Martinez ahead of time.

Also, on Sundays and Mondays, Boules hosts petanque tournaments.

4. Belio

Perched along the side of tall, white condo buildings in KM 104 on the bayside is Belio. One of the most appealing aspects of this restaurant is its beauty. Rather upscale, Belio serves Mediterranean style food.
It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is an excellent location for large group meetings.

5. Las Rosas Hotel Restaurant

Las Rosas is a place some diners often visit as a first stop while in Ensenada. It is just north of the city and located on the Pacific Ocean, so it offers wonderful views, especially of the sunset. The small dining room looks out to the poolside patio and past that to the Pacific Ocean.

Las Rosas mostly serves seafood, from locally prepared fish to sizzling lobster.

Whether visitors are in Ensenada for business or pleasure, they will always find something that they can enjoy, whether it may be a walk on the beach or exploring the Wine Country. However, there is always the wonderful choice of sampling the local gastronomy, another feature in which Ensenada prides itself.
