Bahamas Weather in October - Temperatures and Rainfall

© Caribeez.com
Bahamas weather in October is more ugly than November and less ugly than September.

In other words, the rainfall is becoming less of a problem as the annual Caribbean hurricane season starts to wind down.

August and September are the worst months of the year to visit the Bahamas because average rainfall exceeds eight inches a month.

The following averages are based on a 30-year history and will vary somewhat each year.

Nassau

Nassau weather in October is slightly warmer than Freeport because it lies to the southwest.

The average high for the month is 86 degrees, while the low hovers around 72.

Total rain for Nassau is actually higher than Freeport at about 6.5 inches, which is equal to the amount it receives in September.

The total number of days it rains is 15, which is four days more than Freeport.

These averages are about four degrees cooler than September. Expect temperatures to be slightly warmer at the beginning of the month and more cool at the end.

Total rainfall is about 5.5 inches, which is still high by Caribbean standards but a big improvement over September’s eight inches.

The number of days it rains each month is 11, which is a major improvement over the 18 days in September and 19 in August.

Great Inagua

The third largest island in the chain is among the southernmost and therefore the warmest.

This eco-tourism destination has an historical high temperature of 89 degrees in October and a low of 74 degrees.

The island is not only warmer, but it also receives less rain.

Total rainfall is about 4.5 inches and total rain days is 10.

Whether to Go

Nassau is the most popular island in the chain, so a decision of whether to go depends on the weather there.

The answer is, don’t go because of the high risk of rain unless it is a last-minute trip and the forecast looks good.

Great Inagua is a better choice than Nassau, especially for outdoor enthusiasts.
