The water temperature alone is a reason to love Aruba weather in December.
This arid southern Caribbean island off the coast of Venezuela is popular most months of the year. It has the least amount of rainfall of any major destination in the region along with nearby Curaçao.
Its beaches are among the best in the Caribbean, especially Palm Beach. The island is small and easy to tour. Nightlife is quite active. It is a big draw for people who like snorkeling and scuba diving.
December may be the first month of winter, but it usually doesn’t feel that way in Aruba.
The following statistics come from a 30-year history from the Meteorological Department of Aruba and will vary somewhat from year to year. But they are patterns that help with knowing what to expect about the weather.
Aruba Temperatures in December
Aruba temperatures in December average 87 degrees Fahrenheit or 31 Celsius during the day, according to the Meteorological Department of Aruba. The average nighttime low is 79 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 Celsius.
Even the water temperatures stay warm in December—an average of 81 degrees Fahrenheit.
That 81 degrees is right in the middle of the range for the year, which reaches a low of 79 degrees in January through March and a high of 83 degrees from September through November.
These air temperature averages are near the lows for the entire year. But it’s hard to argue with an average high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit.
Aruba temperatures are warm year round including the winter months because the island is one of the most southern Caribbean islands and closer to the equator than most destinations in the region.
December Rainfall
It rains more than usual in Aruba during December, but it still doesn’t rain that much compared to other destinations.
The average total rainfall for Aruba in December is about three inches, according to the Meteorological Department of Aruba. The amount is similar to the total in October and November.
For the rest of the year, it rains only about one inch per month or less.

Whether to Go
Despite the slight drop in temperatures and a higher risk of rain, December is the most popular month of the year to visit Aruba.
The fact that it remains so warm during the first month of winter is one reason to go in December.
But with its popularity that month come higher prices. So plan to go if lying on a tropical beach in 87 degree weather during December has some appeal.
Consider another month of the year if prices are a factor in the decision.
Either way, Aruba’s weather is a major reason to go to this tropical island any time of the year.
