The volume of rainfall takes a step up throughout the Caribbean in August as the annual hurricane season gets notably more active.
The region typically sees three major storms and two become hurricanes during August.

Unlike the islands, the Central American nations of Belize and Costa Rica, which face the Caribbean Sea, show an improvement in total rainfall, especially Belize.
Total rainfall in the Bahamas jumps by 50 percent versus July. Dominica shows a strong increase as well.
